Temporary Power Pole Work in Progress: An underground pole installed but not completed.

This photo shows our underground power pole installed however; we were unable to complete our scope of work because Southern California Edison had not yet installed the transformer.  The Edison transformer will be set on top of the concrete pad that you see in the picture.  The customer will need to call us back to the jobsite for a second trip to complete our connection into the SCE transformer.   Ideally the customer should have waited to install our temporary power pole, avoiding additional unnecessary costs.  Many newly developed areas have underground power sources, eliminating the unappealing overhead power poles in the street.

Need More Than One Power Pole? Consider a “Multi-Set”

multi-set temporary power poles

The photo above shows a “multi-set”, which is required on larger projects or when the power source is further than 100 feet.  The local utility company will span the overhead wire no further than 100 feet.  In the photo above the customer has a construction trailer requiring power that is more than 600 feet away from the utility source.  The temporary power meter pole is installed closest to the utility source, the additional temporary power poles are installed every 80 feet to the construction trailer.  The last temporary pole we installed has a sub panel that will supply power to the construction trailer.

Another common scenario that a multi set would be required is on a track home project.  Generally, each home would require a sub panel installed on a pole to supply power to each home the contractor is building.

We typically recommend a job walk for multi set jobs, we can meet with the project superintendent to recommend the best layout to provide an efficient and cost-effective temporary power system.

Need More Power Pole Clearance?

temporary power pole clearance

A typical rental pole is 6’x6’x24’ tall. In some cases, more clearance is needed on projects which will require us to install a black diamond pole.  The black diamond poles are round and approximately 8-10 inches in diameter, we can supply 25’, 30’ and 35’ poles to accommodate the customers job requirements. The black diamond poles require 100 percent truck access for installation and cannot be installed by hand.

Building Property Line to Property Line?  There are options..

temporary power ground conduit

This picture shows how we can accommodate projects that are building property line to property line, with no extra space to install tall power poles and overhead lines. The temporary power pole set up in the picture demonstrates the option to run the wire on the ground inside conduit, solving the customers concerns about running the wire overhead and making the jobsite a safer environment.  Although we can accommodate this set up on some job sites, the cost is much higher than the typical overhead installation.
